We are so proud of our Scholarship Recipients! Meet Chrisford Belizaire, one of the 26 high school students that received a scholarship from MBF last year, who is excelling in both his academic and professional career!

Chrisford Belizaire, a Miami Edison Senior High School graduate, received a scholarship from the MBF in 2014 to continue his studies at the University of Florida. At UF, Chrisford is pursuing a double major in Finance and Computer Information Systems.

The MBF Scholarship has deepened my aspirations for the personal and career goals that I have set for myself. Being a first-generation college student, a post-secondary institution’s lecture room of 500+ students was not where I visualized myself, due to my family’s numerous hardships. The MBF has eased those burdens with the financial aid and overall support system provided. This scholarship has served as the torch allowing me to create a path that will not only benefit me, but ultimately enhance the lives of others around me as well.

Chrisford serves as a member of the Leadership Development Institute (a leadership cabinet for freshmen under the Black Student Union) and as Historian for Club Creole, the Haitian student organization on campus. In April 2015 he was awarded the Outstanding Freshman Leadership Award by Savant Leadership Honorary.

Chrisford was recently invited to join Florida Leadership Academy (a year-long program for the top 100 sophomores in the Heavener School of Business) and elected to be on Club Creole’s Executive Board as Webmaster. As of June 2015, Chrisford will also be serving as a Peer Advising Coach with the Office of Academic Support (OAS) for incoming freshmen.
