Small Business WorkshopsAdvancing Minority-Owned Businesses
MBF Small Business Training
In September of 2015, MBF launched its first 10-session Small Business Training for minority-owned City of Miami businesses. The training provides business owners with essential tools and skills to grow their companies.
In October of 2016, MBF celebrated another cohort of Miami small business owners graduating its fourth training. To read more about the graduation and for photo gallery click here.
The 5 week, 10-session workshop provides business owners with essential tools and skills to grow their companies including compliance, intellectual property, hiring, policies and procedures, real estate, contracts, direct sales and marketing, online marketing, bookkeeping, finances, and accessing capital.
The two-and-a-half hours long sessions are facilitated by Marjorie Weber, a Certified SBA loan originator/processor and SBA Technical Advisor. Each subject is taught by an expert in that field providing insights into current market conditions and opportunities.
We have received positive feedback from the students taking part in the training, especially in regards to the facilitator and expert speakers. Out of students that partook in the first training, 90 percent noted that the workshop met their expectations completely and 94 percent of the students noted that they would attend a similar workshop again. Many students noted that book keeping, financial reporting, acquiring loans, and marketing were the most important topics they learned about during the workshop.
As a new business owner in a very competitive market, the small business training has given us the confidence to become business owners rather than employees.Lia Ames
