About Us
Welcome to Miami Bayside Foundation
Miami Bayside Foundation (MBF) is a nonprofit organization designed to advance economic development in South Florida through the support of
businesses and education.
MBF seeks to do this through the creation and administration of loan programs for small businesses, through the creation of educational scholarships for students, and by providing technical assistance to small business owners.
In the early 1980s, before the groundbreaking for the Bayside Marketplace, the City of Miami and the renowned Bayside Marketplace developer, Jim Rouse, initiated discussions about establishing an organization to support minority entrepreneurs in the city.
In 1986, the MBF was formed as a result of this partnership, with the aim of revitalizing and serving the downtown economic core of the City of Miami. Currently, MBF plays a crucial role in advancing economic development throughout South Florida by providing support to minority businesses and education initiatives.
MBF has granted over 2,500 scholarships to minority students from the City of Miami attending institutions such as Miami Dade College, Florida International University, Florida Memorial University, Miami Dade Public High Schools, and D.A. Dorsey, George T. Baker Aviation, and Lindsey Hopkins Technical Colleges. Furthermore, it has awarded over 250 loans totaling more than $19.7 million to minority-owned businesses, resulting in the creation of over 500 jobs.
