The 15-month-long pilot program inaugurated in August 2016 and had its first class of seven students graduate in December 2017. The program included a two-week training course at Yamaha in Atlanta to become certified in Service Skills and a six-week rotating internship at Yamaha dealers and a boat yard. MMSTA is overseen by an advisory board of industry and marine service professionals. The second class, which takes place in the evening, began in August 2017 and will graduate in December 2018.
